The Battle-Ax People by Olivia Vlahos-A Review

I have recently completed my reading of a now sadly out of date book titled The Battle-Ax People by Olivia Vlahos, published in 1968. I was fortunate to be able to import an ex-library copy from the USA.
The book is divided into two parts, Part I: Into Old Lands, Among City Folk which tells the story of the movement of the Indo-European tribes or Battle-Ax peoples into the ancient world with chapters on the Kassites, Hittites, Mitanni, Hyksos, Aryans[Indo-Aryans] and Persians.
Part II: Moving West is concerned with the Minoans and Mycenaeans, Greeks, Romans, Celts[and their precursors], Teutons[including the Vikings] and the Samartians.
There is an epilogue which is concerned with telling the story in brief of the development of the English language.
The book is full of interesting illustrations and maps which help the reader to follow the text of what would otherwise be a rather dry subject.
Vlahos` use of everyday English makes this work on the Indo-Europeans accessable to both adults and young people. I only wish that this enjoyable and informative book was republished for today`s budding Aryanists to read.
